Jonathan is a dutch music producer and music teacher who works under the name SPARKS and mainly writes and produces music for bands and artists as well as for himself.

He is an enthusiastic guy who’s busy with music every day, all day. Singing and playing the piano from an early age, music was always present in his daily life. But music really became important when he was around 14 years old. This is the time when different musical instruments were bought and learnt. Violin, cello, bassoon, recorder and many more. Also songwriting became a highly interested item. Music began to have a meaning and needed to be recorded. This is what started his love for music production. What started as a cool idea eventually became reality during his studies ‘MediaMusic’ at the ArtEZ conservatory in Enschede, The Netherlands, which he graduated from in February 2023.

He is intrigued by classical music and also likes to compose classical pieces for a whole variety of instruments, ensembles and orchestras.

Besides writing and producing, Jonathan also plays keys and sings backing vocals in two different bands. He complements the poppy-punky sounds of DSM-5 and on the complete other side the folky-country sound of Maris Mae.
